Leadership

The leadership team of Giving Hunger the Blues is made up of a group of dedicated volunteers, committed to fulfilling our mission to feed protect and nurture the kids in our community. As event chair and producer I am joined by Eileen Heathington who serves as co-chair, Christopher Ash who, among many other efforts, does an amazing job of recruiting and managing over 150 volunteers, Dennis Maley who is our music director, emcee and the media voice of GHTB, Jeffrey Arnold who is our stage manager and countless others who combine their talent and spirit to help produce this event. In addition, our charity partner, The Mayor’s Feed the Hungry Program provide us with extremely dedicated volunteers who are intrinsic in the production of Giving Hunger the Blues.

Peter Anderson, Chair

Born and raised in Connecticut, Peter has been a Sarasota resident for 25 years after moving from New Jersey where he spent ten years teaching high school. Peter lives here with his wife of nearly 30 years and has two grown children. Peter is a VP and Market Sales Leader for BankUnited specializing in commercial lending. Peter is proud to have co-chaired Giving Hunger the Blues through 2013 and even prouder of relaunching the event in 2015 as the event’s chair and producer. In addition, Peter is a Big Brother mentor to a Sarasota Military Academy senior, a Big Brother Big Sister of the Suncoast community board member and he serves as treasurer on the Sarasota Jazz Club board. In what little spare time he has, Peter enjoys boating, cooking, photography and of course, live music.

 

Eileen Heathington, Co-Chair

Eileen Heathington has been the Co-Chair and Project Manager for Giving Hunger The Blues Music Festival for the past 4 years. She is employed with Oracle USA as a Project Manager where she oversees all third-party contracts globally for Exadata support and has 20 years of service with the company. Being an avid live Music fan has also given her 15 years of Music Festival and Musician Management experience. During those years she became one of the majority partners for JS108Atlanta an internet Jazz radio station with a Global following and has worked with Eventz-r-Us for the New Orleans Essence Music Festival the past 10 years. Her other experiences in the music world have led her to work with Musicians for the Washington DC-based Captial Jazz Cruise, the Tom Joyner Cruise, and the Sea Breeze Jazz Festival. Her Love of Music has taken her around the World! “Music Is My Therapy”

 

Dennis Maley, Music Director

Dennis Maley is the music director and media specialist for Giving Hunger the Blues. Dennis has been an editor and featured columnist with the Bradenton Times since 2010. An avid supporter of the local arts scene, he’s written hundreds of feature articles and album reviews on local musicians and touring bands that come to the Bay Area

 

 

 

 

Christopher Ash, Volunteer Director

Born and raised in Upstate New York, Chris has been a Bradenton resident for 18 years after moving from Rochester where he spent ten years working for a real estate developer. Chris lives here with his wife Deborah of 1 year. Chris is a Land Construction Manager for Lennar Homes. Chris is proud to be the volunteer coordinator for Giving Hunger the Blues from 2015 to current and has assisted other events with volunteer coordination. In addition to that, Chris enjoys traveling, football and live music.
