Giving Hunger The Blues is an annual, one-day, musical street festival located on Hillview Street in Sarasota, Florida. The family-friendly event features two stages of live music, including the popular youth stage, dance performances, martial arts demonstrations and dozens of food and beverage vendors. Live music performances are the main attraction, however. Each year, the festival brings phenomenal music to a happy crowd. American Idol’s Syesha Mercado, The Allman Brothers Band’s Dan Toler and AC/DC’s Brian Johnson have each performed at Giving Hunger The Blues.
The mission of Giving Hunger The Blues is to feed, protect and nurture the children of our community. Established by the Generoso Foundation in 1996, Giving Hunger The Blues has generated more than $1.2 million that has gone directly to providing meals for needy families.
This year, Giving Hunger The Blues will donate its proceeds to the Women’s Resource Center of Sarasota County and the Mayors Feed The Hungry Program. We’d like to thank Team Renick Real Estate Services for being 2015’s presenting sponsor.
The goal of Giving Hunger The Blues is to raise money for the hungry children and families who live in our community. Established by the Generoso Foundation in 1995, Giving Hunger The Blues has generated more than $1.2 million that has gone directly to providing meals for needy families.
Ticket Sarasota Article - Giving Hunger The Blues is back!
Welcome to the 19th Annual Giving Hunger the Blues. I have been fortunate enough to be a part of this amazing event for a number of years, initially just lending a hand to the founder of the event, George Generoso and eventually becoming Co-Chair. Along the way, my passion for the event grew with the event’s popularity. Today, after a nearly two year hiatus, I am thrilled to re-launch this event! Our mission to “feed, protect and nurture the children of our community” has never been more important. So mark your calendars. Eat, drink and be merry for an extremely good cause.
We are no longer signing up volunteers. Thanks for your interest. We have all the help we need! We look forward to seeing you on Hillview St. on November 8th!
